Acesulfame-K (E950)
Acesulfame-K, originally known as acesulfam-K, was developed in
1967 by a German company, Hoechst. It is about 200 times sweeter
than sugar and is often used in soft drinks combined with
aspartame.
Like all other low-calorie sweeteners, acesulfame-K has been
tested in numerous studies to determine its safety. It is not
metabolised by the body but is excreted unchanged and does not
affect the normal functions of the human body.
