BSDA co-hosted event toasts Wales' best food and drink

Leading politicians in Wales toasted the success of the principality’s food and drink sector at a special event co-hosted by the British Soft Drinks Association (BSDA) and the Food and Drink Federation (FDF).

The ‘Celebrating Welsh Food & Drink’ reception, held at the Senedd in Cardiff on Wednesday 12 June, attracted manufacturers from across Wales and highlighted some of the best produce the country has to offer.

Sponsored by David Rees AM, the event also saw the likes of Education and Skills Minister Kirsty Williams AM, Deputy Minister for Housing and Local Government Hannah Blythyn AM, and Deputy Presiding Officer Ann Jones AM engaging with exhibitors such as Princes and Radnor Hills.

Producers from across Wales took the opportunity to share their stories and discuss the valuable contribution that their businesses are making to the Welsh economy.

In delivering her keynote speech to attendees, Blythyn stated the Welsh Government’s desire to see the Welsh food and drink sector to continue to expand, a call echoed by FDF Chief Executive Ian Wright.

BSDA Director General Gavin Partington said: “It was a privilege to play our part in hosting this event. The feedback from all those who attended and exhibited was effusive in its praise.

“Food and drink in Wales is an economic success story, employing over 22,000 people across the country and generating £4.8bn a year. We are pleased to have the Welsh Government continue to support local businesses to be proud flagbearers, including BSDA’s members in Wales.”
